Da Hong Pao Wu Yi Rock Oolong Tea

    Big Red Robe

One of The Four Great Bushes

Da Hong Pao, literally "Big Red Robe", is an important Wuyi Oolong tea. It is the king of the Famous Five Rock Teas in the Wu Yi Mountain of China.

Da Hong Pao is a famous tea variety from the exclusive Rock Tea area on Wuyi Mountain in northern Fujian. In Chinese, Da Hong Pao means "Big Red Robe," a name that refers to a legend surrounding the discovery of this tea. This batch of Da Hong Pao is more lightly oxidized and lightly roasted than usual, highlighting the true varietal character which has a pit fruit flavor and unique floral complexity.

It is grown organically in the rich mineral soil of the central portions of the WuYi Mountains thus it is called Zhen Yan Cha. Due to its high quality, Da Hong Pao tea is usually reserved for honored guests in China.

I usually only like hebarl teas but when I read about all the wonderful health benefits of this oolong' tea, I had to try it! I've never been a fan of green tea or black tea and since oolong tea is similar to both, I don't know why I'd thought I'd like it. It's good for you, I won't deny that but I just don't care for the taste.
